Please join Hammertown Barn on Saturday, December 11th in welcoming –
Mary Randolph Carter: 3 pm to 4:30 pm
Liza Donnelly: 4pm to 5:30 pm
Meet authors Liza Donnelly and Mary Randolph Carter and taste delicious food from Chef Job Yacubian prepared to match each of these author’s distinct yet complimentary personalities. Just as books and home design reflect personalities, at this event so will the food!
Mary Randolph Carter, (who prefers to be called “Carter”) is an author, photographer and longtime creative director for Ralph Lauren (and a local weekend resident). Known for her popular “Junk” book series (American Junk!, Garden Junk, Kitchen Junk and Big City Junk) her most recent book stays with the theme: A Perfectly Kept House is the Sign of a Misspent Life. It examines “How to live creatively with collections, clutter, work, kids, pets, art, etc…and to stop worrying about everything being perfectly in its place.” Written with great humor and beautifully designed and illustrated with wonderful photographs.
Long time Hammertown friend (and generous website contributor), Liza Donnelly, is a contract cartoonist for the New Yorker Magazine. Author of 15 books (including Sex & Sensibility and Cartoon Marriage) her latest book, When Do They Serve the Wine? The Folly Fun and Flexibility of Being a Woman, is a collection of her cartoons chronicling the phases of women’s lives in all their hilarity. In addition to the New Yorker, Liza’s cartoons have also appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, The Nation, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan & National Lampoon as well as online at womensenews.org, HuffingtonPost, Slate, wowowow.com and the DailyBeast.
Job Yacubian has become one of our favorite chefs here at Hammertown with his highly acclaimed Hammertown Cooking Classes. Training under such celebrated New York chefs as Rocco Di Spirito, David Bouley and Daniel Boulud, Job was the chef/owner of Icehouse and Bittersweet restaurants, both located on Martha’s Vineyard. Job’s style of contemporary, seasonal cuisine, has been featured in Gourmet, Food and Wine, House & Garden and Bon Appetit. In 2007, Job joined longtime friend, Dorcas Sommerhoff, as executive chef at The Farmer’s Wife in Ancramdale NY.
