Our Antiquing Road Trip to Franklin, NY

This past Valentine’s Day, Drew, Sarah and I took a road trip to visit our favorite antique dealer: Sean Scheer of Kabinett & Kammer (see our previous blog about this shop) in Franklin, New York.

Sean recently moved his shop and his residence from Andes, NY to Franklin.  He purchased an amazing old building on Main Street over a year ago and set about transforming it into a shop with a residence above. With his partner, Gary Graham (dress designer and also a New York City transplant) they made the big move to Franklin and set up shop for both of their businesses. Although they still need trips to New York for business, their permanent home is now in Franklin.  Sean also teaches art history at Oneonta College.

Kabinet and Kammer opened last Memorial Day weekend, and this is the first we have had a chance to visit.  Right now they are only open certain weekends. Visit them on Instagram for their hours. And speaking of their Instagram page, you’ll see it’s not just us who adore Sean’s aesthetic…he has over 15,000 followers. When we drove up he was open for President’s Day Weekend.  Once we get to Memorial Day he’ll be open more often.

It was such a beautiful day…a stunning drive through the countryside, a delicious lunch at Bea’s Four Twenty-Two Cafe (right next door to the shop) and such a great hunt for treasures at Sean’s fabulous shop.

On the way home, we stopped in Delhi for a sublime cup of coffee plus red velvet cupcakes and scones to die for from Blue Bee Cafe (check out their Instagram page as well)

SO..here’s my tip. Once the weather warms up, be sure to mark your calendars for a visit. And for you Instagram fans, be sure to start following @kabinettandkammer and be inspired like me #WhatinspiresJoan!
