One of the things we decided to do in the New Year is to do a road trip series and let our readers tag along with Joan and Wanda in their search for design inspiration, antiques, interesting shops, galleries and fabulous places to eat. We’re starting our series in Great Barrington!
Wanda and I hit the road this week for a Great Barrington outing. Nestled in the Berkshires, GB is an amazing town with so many great stores and places to explore.
We went first to our own Hammertown Great Barrington store…of course our favorite shop in GB!
Wanda and I styled the store a bit while we were there. Wanda will be spending more time in GB with store manager, Emma, giving the store a fresh new look for 2020. (New things are arriving daily in all our stores and as always, you can count on Hammertown for inspirational living!)
When it was time for lunch we had lots of great choices: Patisserie Lenox, (wonderful French pastries!), Baba Louie’s (fabulous pizza and fresh salads), Bizalion’s (just south of downtown GB), but we opted for one of our favorites which is right on GB’s Main Street — Rubiner’s Cheesemongers & Grocers.
Styled to perfection, a cheese selection extraordinaire and a great selection of wine, Rubiner’s is inspirational.
Wanda and I purchased some cheese and then walked through the alley next to the shop to Rubi’s, their cafe that serves sandwiches and coffee.
The coffee is probably the best you’ll find anywhere (Great Barrington Coffee Roasting Company) and a great assortment of sandwiches and desserts. We had the Alpine Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Sooo delicious!
TRADE SECRET: Rock Solid Marble & Granite
Wanda loves this place for countertops!
On the way home, I picked up some bagels at the Great Barrington Bagel Co. & Deli located right across Route 7 from Guido’s. These are the best bagels outside of NYC in my opinion.
Stay tuned for the further on-the-road adventures of Joan and Wanda!
