From Oliver’s new dad, Drew Evans:
So, it’s about 18 months since my Boston Terrier, Junior, died (read our blog here) and about six months ago I started to seriously consider getting another dog to add to the family.
I knew I wanted a rescue, and Joan had gotten Etta from Perfect Pets Rescue, a Hudson Valley based rescue organization that brings dogs and cats from high kill shelters in Georgia to be adopted locally. Joan had had such a great experience with them and I have other friends who used them too, so that’s where I started.
After I filled out an application form and got approved as an adopter by them, (using Joan as one of my references!) I started regularly (obsessively) checking their website for new arrivals.
It’s a cliche, but when I saw Oliver I was pretty sure he was the one. So, this past Monday morning, in a park in Kingston, I met him and the folks who were fostering him – and it was love at first sight!
It’s only been a couple of days, but so far he’s doing remarkably well. Not quite as good at posing for photographs on Hammertown furniture as his sister!
But he’s been greeting customers already, and has figured out where the treat jar is. He’s quiet, easygoing, and getting along well with Iris and she’s being uncharacteristically accepting of him too!
So far so good and a big thank you to the amazing volunteers at Perfect Pets Rescue.
