I’ve always loved the Farmer’s Wife. I have a long history with their Ancramdale location. Over the years they catered a wedding for me as well as many, many parties. Chef Job Yacubian and his wife, Emilie Sommerhoff (step-daughter of the original farmer’s wife, Dorcas Sommerhoff), took over the Farmer’s Wife after Dorcas retired, and they’ve built an incredible reputation and following. So, it was no surprise to me when they decided almost a year ago to open a second location in Millbrook (actually they are technically located in Mabbettsville. The same spot where the old…and also well-loved…Mabbettsville Market used to be).
Drew and I stopped there last week for lunch after a design consultation. We had the most amazing and delicious lunch AND we got a tour of Job and Emilie’s new digs. We were so impressed with the design and feel…it’s a destination place for sure with lots of tables outside for al fresco dining and lots of room inside, too, plus food to take home! We are so lucky to have
I especially loved the upstairs space. As soon as I saw it, I couldn’t help but see it as an lovely space for evening dining. In fact, I’m thinking I might host a “supper club” dining event up there!! Hope Job and Emilie are up for that!!
The Farmer’s Wife II is easy to get to from Amenia, Millbrook, Millerton and nearby Connecticut. I could not recommend it more heartily!!
Congratulations Job and Emilie! You’ve created a gorgeous new second home for your wonderful business.
