There is so much going on for people who love food in our part of the Hudson Valley and at Hammertown we like to think we’ve got something every “foody” will love.
My favorite new book at Hammertown is the inspiration for this week’s lead story. Foraging & Feasting: A Field guide and Wild Food Cookbook is written by local author, Dina Falconi with fabulous illustrations by Wendy Hollender. Here are just a few reasons I love this book.
- It celebrates our local bounty in a beautiful and enlightening way, weaving together Dina’s knowledge in wild-plant identification, foraging and cooking with Wendy’s beautiful botanical illustrations.
- You can learn to identify wild edible plants; harvest & cook them into delicious food with Dina’s tested recipes.
- It is self-published, using funds raised through a Kickstarter campaign (exceeding their goal)
- It just won the Gold Medal from the Independent Publisher Book Award
I cannot recommend this book more highly. I hope you’ll come by one of our stores and see for yourselves why I’m carrying it. And, while you’re there check out some of these items for food fans.
