Ahhh, summer!!
When I last wrote we were longing for spring, now it truly is summer.  And with warm weather comes local produce and different hours, and special events @ The Stissing House.
Current Hours:
Although lunches are finished for the summer, we’ve added Monday dinner to make our hours Thursday thru Monday for dinner only.
SAVE THESE DATES:
July 10th The Millbrook Yacht Club is hosting an Art Exhibition and Sale in their clubhouse upstairs at The Stissing House. A generous percentage (minimum 20%) of the proceeds will go to support Millbrook Early Childhood Educational Center. There is a wonderful selection of artists represented with most of them in residence that night to meet and greet.
July 11th marks our third annual Bastille Day Celebration. Beginning at 12 noon there will be a Grand Aioli with bottomless glass of Rosé, a lively competition of the french bowling game Petanque and (hopefully) live coverage of the FIFA World Cup Soccer Finals! $40 all inclusive. Reservations essential!
July 23rd Joe Nott who rocked the house on New Year’s Eve will be bringing a new group of musicians to our upstairs event space. Details to follow.
Ongoing
On our green, right next to the building we are hosting a Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 9-1. As the season progresses, there promises to be a good assortment of garden vegetables, fruit, cheese, yoghurt, flowers, local organic and natural meats, free range eggs, as well as prepared foods by us and other surrounding area vendors. Last week there was Ronnybrook with their new probiotic greek style yoghurts, Tim LaValley with garden lettuces, garlic scapes, and baby kale, Real Live Food Company with their delicious cheeses, Michel Jean with wild mushroom and caramelized onion flatbread, and Coach Farm. Other vendors had all natural angus beef, beautiful Nantucket style baskets, home made granola, divine maple syrup from Stissing Lake- the list goes on. This is an opportunity for local people to purchase local, with all that entails (less energy expended, supporting your neighbors, the sheer pleasure of eating fresh!). Hope to see you there.
The menu is getting an overhaul to reflect the season and also what our farmers are offering:
Squash blossom pizza, lamb chops, organic chicken paillard, local snap pea salad, grilled halibut with summer vegetables, and Caramelized Peach Tatin will be available in addition to our basic menu.
And even if you aren’t hungry, stop in to try our new cocktail menu. Lemon Basil Martini, anyone?
Please call 518-398-8800 for reservations or further inquiries.
