Rhonda and I went over to the house today to focus on the kitchen. Fred (who is a fabulous painter…you can email me for his info) finished painting the kitchen. Rhonda and I are anxious to see it. As we had suspected, when we walked into the kitchen, the fresh coat of paint in Farrow and Ball “Elephant’s Breath” had totally transformed it. It looked fantastic!
Our cars were loaded with things — we emptied them both and began to work. I had special ordered a new custom made sisal type rug for the kitchen. These rugs are great and totally user friendly. It was a welcome, clean addition instead of the dated blue and white braided rug.
We brought in all the Fishs Eddy white dinner ware and filled the cupboards with the dishes and bowls. We stylized the counters, simply with two antique jars and a vintage wire dish rack. Above the brick fireplace, we hung a fabulous mirror, made with vintage wood from Belgium.
We are still waiting for the slipcovers for the loveseats and we haven’t brought over the old trunk for the coffee table, but the kitchen is starting to fall together. We lit our favorite candle (Paddywax natural beeswax) and put some natural diffusers around the house to make it smell great. Rhonda folded towels for the bathroom, put in a nice soap dish, and we did a few things on the shelves in the living room.
Later this week the rugs arrive, and that will totally make a huge difference to the downstairs of the house…talk with you next week!
