Just got back from my road trip to Maine. For over 40 years I have been traveling up the coast of Maine to visit my best friend, who lives in Belfast. It’s a pilgrimage, of sorts, and one that nourishes my soul.
I drove from Ancramdale, and made it to York, Maine in about 3 ½ hours. My first stop in York is to visit the Stonewall Kitchen store. I enjoy seeing their store…beautifully designed, great product and well presented…and it is a great place to get something to eat…fresh soups, salads, etc. My other stops in York are to explore the antique shops. My favorite is the York Antique Center…I always find things to bring home! Two other great places to visit are Tangibles in Cape Neddick and the Cape Neddick Antiques Center.
Onward from there…I headed up towards Brunswick, Maine…got on Route One, and travelled into one of my all time favorite Maine towns, Wiscasset. Walked the streets, explored the antiques and the galleries, and you really must have a lobster roll and fried clams at Reds…look for the line around the block! They’ve been written up in the New York Times and Gourmet Magazine for the best lobster rolls in the state of Maine. Then, I got a cup of coffee at Treats and headed north to Belfast.
This is to be continued…but, understand, my blog has to work around me, my crazy schedule and demands, and my multi-tasking! I want to share the creative places and people I know…the trips and things I do that nourish my soul and mind, and have fun with it.
