Join the “Coalition to Unchain Dogs”
If the everyday reader of this blog wasn’t aware of it yet, the people of Hammertown are CRAZY about dogs.
Joan buys great dog books, we always stock amazing doggie treats and toys and most of the staff owns a dog, if not more than one. And, trekkers to our annual Labor Day tent sale can opt for early buying (8-9 am) on Saturday, 8/30, with a $40 donation to The Good Dog Foundation.
So, I had a sneaking feeling that Joan would respond as strongly as I did when I saw one of the latest videos from the Durham, North Carolina group, The Coalition to Unchain Dogs. Every Sunday a group of volunteers heads to another home to build a fence for a dog or dogs that have been chained or tied outside. The fence-building is free, subsidized by monetary and in-kind donations, as well the Coalition’s annual benefit concert. Buddy (pictured above) is just one of the dogs waiting for his own fence that will benefit from your donation.
They are a fabulous organization! My sister, Caroline, is a volunteer with the group. She sent me a video which I had to pass on to Joan. And, Joan suggested I pass it on to readers of our blog.
