Molly Renfroe Katz, Producing Director of Half Moon Theatre in Poughkeepsie, and a loyal and wonderful Hammertown customer, emailed me to let me know about the current production at her theater.
Their newest play, Three Viewings, is written by Jeffry hatcher, who wrote the screenplay for The Duchess with Keira Knightley (Carolyn Blackwood, local Rhinebeck customer was the Producer), among many other plays/screenplays. This was the play that inspired critically acclaimed HBO series, “Six Feet Under.”
A delightfully original dark comedy, Three Viewings reveals the secret lives of 3 characters at a small, Midwestern funeral parlor. Each tale is recounted separately but skillfully woven together to surprise the audience with revelations about the characters’ relationships with the deceased and each other.
The actors are all local professionals. It stars Geoff Tarson, a hilarious actor and comedic writer, who’s just moved to the Hudson Valley from Hollywood. Geoff is a veteran improv comic who’s worked most recently with Wayne Brady, and he’s written for hit shows such as “Suddenly Susan” and Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven.” Half Moon Company favorite Stefanie Salzmann co-stars along with Rhinebeck’s beloved Barbara Rankin. Directed by Bill Salzmann with Set Design and Costumes by Megan Ingalls.
